Welcome to the website of St Kentigern’s Church, Ballater. We are a congregation within the Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney and part of the Scottish Episcopal Church.
Coffee and refreshments in the church hall follow the Sunday morning service and visitors are always made welcome. Many of our visitors come again on their next visit to Deeside.
We try to be open every day- but if we’re not when you stop by, just give us a ring and if we can, we’ll open up for you. You are welcome to pop in and have a look around, to spend some time in quiet, or for personal prayer.
St Kentigern’s Church works with the other Churches in the village and we hold joint services throughout the year.
The church celebrated its centenary in 2007, the granite building replacing an iron Mission Church – [which still exists, functioning as St Peter’s Heritage Hall further down the valley at Peterculter]. The interior of St Kentigern’s has an open, light aspect with some beautiful stained glass windows and a fine organ. To mark the Millennium, pew cushions were embroidered and a set of kneelers was also worked, some for our centenary and others for all the incumbents with their dates.
You will find St Kentigern’s on the A93, on the right hand side, nestling in trees, as you begin to head out of Ballater towards Balmoral and Braemar. There is a paved disabled access to rear on the left hand side.
